Hello

I have installed a fresh windows xp with SP2 on an Intel computer. For
around 1 month the windows was working fine, but past 4-5 days whenever I
restart this computer the explorer loads in the process and within 5 secs
ends the task. Then using taskmanager I have to manually open a new task
"explorer" and then windows runs fine.
I have to do this on every restart.

I have tried starting computer in safe mode
I have tried loading the Last good known config
I have also checked the logfiles, but no errors

Please help

Thanks

Hello Eric

Thanks for your reply.

But unfortunately system restore is not working. I tried different restore
points but non of them worked.

Do you have any other alternative.

Thanks

What is the malware status of the computer? Be sure it is clean as
explorer.exe disappearing is symptomatic of many viruses and non-viral
malware (Vundo, etc.) infections.

Do you have an SB Audigy 2 sound card? If yes Re-enable
the item in MSConfig. Then try right hand item in Line 260 of the

Hope this helps.
