Procedure entry point cannot be located

I am getting a message every time I open any office application, I am running
office 2002. The error messages reads as follows: DDE Server Window:
OUTLOOK.EXE - Entry point Not Found The procedure entry point _ftol2 could
not be found in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll.
I have tried looking up this problem online and the stuff they are
talking about reads like stereo instructions. If you can help please dumb it
down, I'm not a total idiot but I do not understand C++ and that stuff.

Which version of Windows are you using?
Do things work correctly in Outlook Safe Mode?
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /safe
