probs with deleting a file

is there anyone out there who can help please- I have got
a file in my documents which I can not delete- I have
tried everything but to no avail - the error which comes
up reads it is being used by another person or program -
my apologies for showing my ignorance to other users out
there!

What is the full filename? Also, I would try closing
every possible application on your computer including the
tool try (where the clock is). Also, do a ctrl-alt-del
(only one time) and see if there are any programs running
there that you can kill. Careful not to kill anything
critical. Then try to delete the file.
