Whenever I launch windows, the user name identities show
unread mail messages, even when they have already been
read. How do I fix this? Also, once I click on a user
name and a user profile launches, a destop notepad window
always pops up saying:

[.ShellClassInfo]
LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-
21787

How do I fix this? Thank you.

you need to go to regedit and go to hk_current_user,
software,microsoft,windows,unread mail, then click your username and change
the message count to 0
