I applied Windows Update to a Printer Driver, which was a mistake.

Now ever time my Windows 2000 users print, they get the error:
Function address 0x78010497 caused a protection fault.
Windows XP users do not get this error.

Does anyone know how to uninstall the Windows Update printer driver.

What printer driver model is this? Do you still have the original driver
package somewhere? If not, can you get it from the manufacturer's website?

You will have to re-install the older driver. And then you need to
"convince" the client machines to download the older driver again. I can
tell you how to do that, but first please let me know if you can get the
older driver.

This happened to me with the HP LaserJet 1100's and 2200's

Trying to view the properties of a printer would produce the GPF.

I fixed the problem by deleting the Printer Definition and
re-installing. Using the updated driver still worked after
re-installing the printer, i found no need to back-level the driver.

I Had this problem on one W2K pro PC in my office. I tried uninstallin
the driver and reinstalling which still failed. I had to delete the H
4200 files dated the day of the install. They were in this directory:

C:\WINNT\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3

In the properties of the printer driver on the affected PC the versio
was: (60.5.103.42). I reinstalled the printer drivers from the prin
server and everything is working again.
