Problems with windows update KB824145

Hi folks,

I've noticed problems with IE6 after installing a Windows
Update - KB824145. Here's what happens. You're on a
webpage. One way or another you scroll down to the bottom
of the page. OK. Then you want to scroll back up. You
drag the scroll bar on the right of the page up the
screen. You let go of the mouse button (to stop
dragging). Once in a while, when you stop dragging, you
get kicked back to the bottom of the page. That is if you
were lucky enough to be able to drag as far up the page as
you wanted. Sometimes it just freezes and you can't go
further. It's happened on two different computers - both
running Win2K (one server, one client) after installing
KB824145. It has happened on multiple websites. Has
anyone else experienced this? Any way to do a rollback?

My problem with 824145 was with W98 and the scroll bar
would skip pages unless I clicked right below the marker
and the line down became several lines down. This not only
happened on IE6 but also explorer. Also My IE histories
are broken and will not show any history in the days since
824145. I have uninstalled 824145 (thankfully it was in
the add/remove programs) and my scroll bar is working
normally again but my history is still broken. I have
checked everything including the registry, tweakui,
internet options, explorer options and used system file
checker to no avail.

I fixed my histories. I flushed everything (histories,
temporary internet cache, cookies) and got my histories
working again. I read on Brian's Brain Buzz that q824145
has been rereleased. I think I'll wait awhile to reinstall
it.

MS knows about this current problem.
You can remove the update with the Add/Remove program applet.
