Problems with SP2

Hello.
Yesterday I installed SP2 on my brother's Windows XP PC. After doing so,
the PC failed to connect to the Internet. The network card showed a status
of loss of connection to the network. I went to the properties of the NIC in
device manager and the driver still looked to be good. Can someone give me
some ideas to resolve this?

Thanks.

Sounds like it might have had winsock become corrupted and/or that SP2 was
installed with malware already on the system or applications that aren't
capable of running properly with SP2...
