Hello,
I am facing a strange problem with Windows XP SP2. After
installing it on my computer, I noticed that on any
Internet explorer window, if I type a new URL on the
address bar (like www.yahoo.com), it takes minutes for the
new page to show up.
If during my wait time, I click START-RUN and type
www.yahoo.com (or any URL), the new explorer window comes
up immediatelly and the web site shows without problems.
Links on a page open without problems, The issue is with
the address bar and new URL's.
Also, I noticed that on my Network Connections window now
shows empty, without any item showing.
I uninstalled SP2 and my XP returned to normal, the
network icon with my LAN connection showed up and explorer
behaved normally when I changed url's on the address bar.
After that, I re-installed SP2 and guess what, the exact
same problem occurred again.
I don't know what to do. Anybody faced a similar issue?
Thanks
Carlos

Carlos,

looks like an adware hit. Clean the computer of adware, using,
for example, SpyBot. Then follow the Winsock repair procedure in
http://www.michna.com/kb/WxNetwork.htm.

You may also read a bit in that web page if this doesn't already
solve the problem.
