problems with shared folder

I have a situation where I can save to a shared folder using ms word and exel, but when some of my students try to save to the same folder all I can see is the title of the document and its size is 0k. It was working fine a month ago; I dont know what changed.
Im a novice, please have mercy :^)

JK...let's see here, have you checked to see from the
students machine if there are changes to the file
permissions? What are the file and folder permissions
currently. If you are not the administrator it would be
a good idea to get in touch with your campus admin to
have them check this out first hand.
