Problems with sending PDF file attachment

Employee sending emails from home computer running Outlook 10. When she
attaches a .pdf file, somehow the mail is duplicated and sent numerous
times until she manually shuts down Outlook. Has anyone else
experienced this problem. How does it get fixed?

This can be the result of virus scanning an outgoing email message, which is
unnecessary.
