Problems with Photoshop Elements 2.0 in Windows XP SP2

Hello,

I have Windows XP Pro, recently upgraded to SP2. I recently got Photoshop
Elements 2.0 from CompUSA. Whenever I use it, I get the dreaded blue screen,
and the computer attempts to restart. However, on the boot screen, it just
freezes. I have to force it to shut down and start it again. Ever since I
installed Photoshop Elements, restarting the machine has been a major
headache, even when I am not using the software. As I said above, at the boot
screen the computer just freezes and.....

Please help me!!

My laptop details: Compaq Presario 715US, AMD Athlon Processor; 256 MB RAM
and 20 GB hard drive, out of which more than 12 GB is free.

Thank you,

Vin

I went to Adobe Support and found this article that may help:

http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/328567.html

There is lots of other support information there for Elements, too.
