Problems with PC Booting up - Sticking at agp40.sys

Hi

I've had a problem with my pc which has only occured
since installing SP2 with Win XP. It now seems to totally
freeze after being on for a couple of days and then when
I try to reboot my PC, it always freezes and takes
numerous attempts to reboot before it finally works.

When trying to start the PC in Safe mode, it always seems
to stop at the point of loading driver agp40.sys.

Does anybody know what may be causing this, is it SP2 and
is there someway to fix it?

Thanks
Mark

Problems When Windows XP Tries to Load the Agp440.sys Service

1. Uninstall your current video adapter driver.
2. Reboot and Windows XP will install a generic video adapter driver.
3. Install SP2.
4. Afterward, visit the web site of the manufacturer of your video card
and download/install the latest drivers for your specific video card.

That may be misleading, but is a driver associated with the video card.
I would go to the site of the maker of the card and get the latest
version drivers that *they* advise for XP. Avoid ones offered by
Windows Update

But if happening in Safe mode, which bypasses Windows drivers, it
suggests something more fundamentally wrong with hardware (or not the
video card at all)
