problems with movies

we have a dell computer with projector and this problem started today...when
we play the slideshow and a slide comes up with a movie linked to it, a pop
up box comes up that states "auto sync in progress" then it takes 4-5
seconds while the screen turns blue before it starts playing the movie.
Does anyone know why this happens?

Are you linking the movie file or the PPT from a network/external-drive
location? (This is bad ... go sit in the corner type bad) Always link to
local HDDs unless there is no other possible way around it.

Bill,
We have it linked to the local HDD... while we had an external connected to
the laptop, it wasn't used for the file. We disconnected it and it still
happens...very frustrating
