Problems with jpeg and ps7, very slow for file association how to disable?

It seems photoshop 7 is causing me alot of heartache for open folder
with 100+ pics. Takes forever for it to associate the icon with each
file, even though I have associated jpeg with windows picture and fax
viewer.

Here is a solution I have found
"PROBLEM SOLVED:

Take any (Photoshop-associated) JPG icon in explorer, right-click on
it, select "Properties" from the context menu, then select the middle
tab named "Photoshop Image", uncheck "Generate Thumbnails" there -
that's it.

However this solution is for one picture. I have thousands of pictures,

how can I unclick this property for all of them at one time.
Furthermore...How do I prevent this from happening when I add more
pictures from my digital camera?

Can this be permanently disabled?

Your steps should be the fix....
the following info has worked for many users:

===================================

Slow file thumbnail preview in Windows XP
with Photoshop installed

This is a problem when certain versions of
Photoshop are installed on Windows XP since
the thumbnail generation is handled by Photoshop
for certain types of files. We've noted this problem
with Photoshop 7 and Elements 2 specifically
but may affect other versions.

To fix this problem, right click on any file in your
explorer view, select Properties and you will find
a Photoshop Image tab menu. On this menu,
uncheck the Generate Thumbnails checkbox.

Thank you for your reply.
Is there anyway to do for multiple files at once? Or do I have to do it
manually for each file?

==================================
That should do it for all files. After unchecking
the Generate Thumbnails checkbox did you
click...Apply / OK?

Maybe something else is slowing your system
down.
