problems with hyperlinks in Word

In Word 2003 I have hyperlinks that show up in a forat of
{HYPERLINK
the path the link follows }

They are not showing up with the text for the link. Any thoughts would be
greatly appreciated.

To prevent that from happening in the future do this:

Tools | Options | View and deselect Field Codes.
