problems with games in win 98

I have just returned from a holiday with my sister and brother in law in the
South of France (very nice it was too). Whilst I was there my sister in law
asked me if I would install NAV 2004 for her (which she had just bought
online). She is running win 98 on a very low spec system, 350 processor etc
etc. She has a 56kb modem but because she only gets 44kbps max. The system
is fine for them because they only ever use internet for e mail and the
occasional retail purchase. However, My brother in law loves playing
Freecell. Well, after I spent a day downloading NAV 2004 and updates etc etc
and clearing their system of spyware and adware, my B.I.L decides he wants
to play Freecell and guess what? it didn't work. Well, my name was Merde, He
thought that I had screwed his system by installing NAV 2004. I was in a
dilemma, I had secured thier system but Freecell didn't work, I was in the
bad books, what could I do? I Googled the problem and apparently AV software
and IE6 can have an adverse effect on Freecell and Solitaire whilst running
win 98. One solution was to go back to IE5.5 and the other was to open task
manager and then shut down everything (apart from IE and Systray) one at a
time until Frecell worked. I used the second option and shut down everything
apart from IE and Systray and then tried Freecell and it worked. What I want
to know is, how do I get Freecell to work without having to shutdown
everything?

I have just got back from holiday and require a fix that I can e mail my
Brother in law, anyone got a solution?
