Problems with DVD burner

Do you have other DVD burning software on the PC?

I can use other software to burn DVDs (I use dvd decryptor), and iTunes
still recognizes and burns the drive. This problem seems to only be
affecting programs that came pre-installed with my vaio (Click to DVD,
Sonic Record Now, etc.) and not those that I installed later. I can
use these other programs to make DVDs.

The problem is, Windows Media Center records TV in the dvr-ms file
format, and Click to DVD is the only program I can think of that will
convert these files into DVD. I've researched, and I can't find
another all-in-one product that supports the dvr-ms files into
watchable DVDs.

I contacted Sony support, and they said to try to "reinstall" the DVD
RW drive, and I did that, but that doesn't work. Then I read somewhere
that after installing certain Roxio software caused some people
problems with Click to DVD, and I just recently installed "WinOnCD 6"
(but my sister said she noticed the problem before I installed this
program). So I went ahead and uninstalled it (it was a trial version
anyway). This didn't solve my problem either.

So then I also tried reinstalling the two programs by using the Viao
recovery wizard, but this ended up not working either.

I also tried rolling back windows using windows recovery, but it won't
let me roll my computer back (the last time Click to DVD worked was
early March).

I've run out of things I can think of. Does anyone else have any
suggestions (I would try that windows regestry edit that someone else
mentioned, but I don't feel comfortable enough to mess with my windows
registry untill I set up my external hard drive to back up my system).

Or maybe if someone else knows of any program that can EASILY convert
the dvr-ms files to watchable DVDs.

I'm running in to the same problems with trying to edit recorded TV media
center files with software other than the bundled Sonic.Sonic wont let you
edit without paying $70-$100 upgrade. I already have Adobe Elements but it
won't recogonize the dvr-ms files. I was told Roxio Easy Creator 7 will
recogonize the files so I'm going to try it this weekend.
I'm just looking to edit some of the commercials out of the recorded TV
before burning.
I will let you know how the Roxio works

It's the VideoWave part of the Roxio software you will be working in. It
works just fine... at least v7.5 does. v8 is due out shortly.
