problems with browsing

We use Windows XPpro. Verizon DSL two PCs.Westell 2200 modem D-Link
DI-604 router
Firefox

Problems have suddenly emerged on each PC that seem related, although
the symptoms are different.
On my PC, on many websites, I am gettng a lot of 'waiting for'
messages with an hourglass. some never resolve, that is, I have to
just close the window and give up.
It is most obvious on newegg.
my iGoogle page displays fine

on the other computer. iGoogle does not show certain 'gadget' content.
the frames and title bar appear for several gadgets, but the box has
no content. on this PC the same issue with newegg.

I'm at a loss to where to look or how to troubleshoot.but it seems
like a timing or DSL issue, but that's just a guess. restarting the
modem of course does nothing to help.

The easy thing to to is plug one pc directly into the DSL. Eliminate
everything you can. Even firewall. I know. It opens you to the
world, but don't do it for 8 weeks and you're fine.
I developed an issue with my Dlink or Linksys router that failed with my
gigabit nic on my motherboard. Turned out to be the MB. I swore it
was my cable company. We did everything and nothing worked till I put
in a new nic card.
