when trying to use the Help and Support Center for Windows XP Home Edition,
I cannot see the graphics, (.gif .ico etc) Just boxes with a red X in them.
Also when there is an hyperlink in the body of the help text and I click on
it I get an error message:
Cannot display the page
The page you are trying to view cannot be displayed. This may be because:
If you are trying to view this content over the network, there may be
network congestion or a problem with your connection.
There might be an error in the page's address.
The page might not be available.
Please check your network connection or try another page.

I DO NOT have any problems with graphics or icons on any other program or
website.

I appreciate any help or suggestions.

When I type Regedit all I received was a window with
Persistant Handler in the left pane and an
icon with AB and the word default in the right.
I did not find any 1400 or other number.

I tried to type in
regedit HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet
Settings\Zones\0

and received an error saying it Cannot Import Settings\Zones\0

Am I doing something wrong?

I did find the HKey Etc when I typed Regedit. I checked 1400 in Zone 0 in
both locations and they were already set to 0 with hexidecimal selected. Any
other hints?
Thanks!

Which page in Help Center causes this problem? Navigation path would help me.

Click the Refresh button, or try again later.

If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is
spelled correctly.

To check your connection settings, click the Tools menu, and then click

That only will work for computers not having service pack 2, actually not
having any service packs but i have got service pack 2. Is there any way of
solving this? What exactly is causing this problem?

R

Ramesh [MVP]

Not sure what is causing the problem, but an earlier update from MS sets the kill-bit for hhctrl.ocx. Q811630 issues a updated copy of hhctrl.ocx and removes the kill-bit.

Try this...(worked for me twice so far)...

Flash the latest BIOS.

Then install all the latest install files from your mb
mfger...chipset, video, lan, audio, etc...pretty much in that order.

Then go into IE and disable ALL add-ons. When I did this, I was
prompted to reinstall the required add-on when necessary...which I
did.

Also, right click on some of the frames, pictures, etc. in your
browser and make sure they're associated with the programs you
intended...and that you have the latest version of that particular
program.

Caveat: If you don't feel comfortable with doing the above...DON'T.

Good luck...let us know.

Have a nice one...
