problems upgrading to XP SP2

When trying to run a Windows Update, to bring the computer to SP2, I receive
a "setup cannot copy the esent.dll
c:\windows\system32\dllcache." error.

I have tried downloading the full SP2 and just running the updates from
microsoft Windows Update site. It gets to the exact same spot and then the
error comes up.

I have tried running the update using two different administrator accounts,
and I get the same results.

Any assistance would be apprciated,
