Problems setting up Minolta Elite 2900 Film Scanner (Windows 2000) - Please Help!

I am having problems setting up my new Minolta Elite 2900 film scanner.
This scanner is connected to a new Adaptec 2906 SCSI card that I installed
at the same time as the scanner. Here is where I am:

(Also, I am running Windows 2000 Professional)

1. Physically inserted the SCSI card in the PC
2. Connected the scanner to the SCSI card
3. Downloaded the latest drivers for the scanner (from Minolta)
4. Ran the setup program that supposedly installs the the scanner drivers
5. Rebooted my machine.

When I reboot my machine, I get a new hardware detection message from
Windows 2000 and it wants to install the drivers. Well, I thought I had
already done that. Also, the hardware found message recognizes that this is
a Minolta scanner. So, I cancelled out of this and installed my Adobe
Photoshop software and I was actually able to open the Minolta scanner
window through Photoshop. However, when I try to prescan, the scanner just
sits there and does nothing. There is a window that pops up like the
scanner is doing something but I hear nothing. This continued for about 5
minutes so I cancelled out of this window but it wouldn't close. I finally
had to Ctr Alt Del to close the program. Then, my system became unstable
and all of a sudden re-booted. And of course during the re-boot Windows
asked to install drivers again for the scanner.

What am I doing wrong here? Any help will be much appreciated!!

Regards.
