Problems sending mail with Outlook 2002

I have just installed Outlook 2002 onto my system running W2K. Previously, I
used Outlook Express 6 and everything was fine. Now, with Outlook, I can
receive but I cannot send any email. I get the following error message:


Task 'xxxxxxxx - Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x8004210B) : 'The
operation timed out waiting for a response from the sending (SMTP) server.
If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator
or Internet service provider (ISP).'

Does anyone know what is going on with this. My settings are exactly the
same as Outlook Express as far as smtp and pop settings go.

I have the same environment and am having the same problem
and am getting the same error. I found a bulletin at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-
US;823663 that suggests the error is corrected by setting
the MTU field to 1492 for Linksys routers. Are you by
chance running a Linksys router?
