Problems saving to DVD

For some time I have backed up my Word documents by saving
them (after saving them to my hard disk) to a rewritable
DVD disc. Suddenly, for no apparent reason, any disc
placed in my DVD player is refusing to accept any files
with a .doc extension. My DVD player will accept all
other files and seems, otherwise, to be functioning
perfectly as normal.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I might solve this
problem?

The CD-RW and DVD-RW system never works properly and never
will. Using that system is a sure-fire way of losing your
data.

Far better to use a multi-session DVD-R.

(Ahead Nero's InCD is it?)
