Problems printing html email messages in Outlook 2000

Hello,

We are having problems printing html email messages with Outlook 2000.
Plain and rich text messages print correctly. On several PCs, when we
print html email messages it will only print the message header and I
believe any footer information on the printed page. If we set Word to
be the default email editor we can click on forward in the email so the
messages opens up in Word. Once it is opened in Word, it will print
correctly from Word.

The PCs that are being problematic have a broad spectrum of
configurations. This problem has occurred on Windows 2000, Windows XP
Pro SP1, and Windows XP Pro SP2. IE versions have ranged from 5.5, 6.0,
6.0 SP1 and the new IE in XP SP2. We have downloaded and installed all
of the Office and IE updates. I have checked that is not a problem with
printing background images (I have enabled printing background images
from within the options of IE). It happens with Office 2000, 2000 SP1
and 2000 SP3.

I have searched the Internet and tried quite a few things that have
been suggested in a variety of websites and newsgroups. So far nothing
has worked to resolve this problem other than the work around of the
extra click to forward the messages and then click print so it will
print from within Word instead of Outlook.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

We have experienced a similar phenomenon, but only on Win XP Pro SP2
machines with Outlook SP3. This also manifested itself when attempting to
print web pages (through IE), only the header and footer would print but no
content. We also found that a number of people have posted the same question
but have had no response, and I'm afraid that the only 'solution' I have
found thus far to allow the user to print is to make them a Power User on
their local PC. Clearly this indicates that there is a permissions issue
somewhere along the line (I guess in the Registry) but what exactly needs
changing is unclear.

Hope this helps (if only a little!) - if you do find a good solution please
let me know!

Regards,

Rocky.

Thank you Rocky. We already had tried that in our previous attempts to
fix this. We have tried setting people as power users and even as local
administrators but unfortunately it didn't help.

Some additional information, this problem seems to be PC specific and
it effects ALL users of the PC. It hasn't yet followed a roaming
profile user so what ever is causing it isn't getting loaded to their
profile.

We are thinking it is something in the Registry as well. Thanks again
for your input Rocky!

Rocky,

Thank you for your response and suggestion. I had already tried it.
I've tried setting a user as a power user and as a local administrator.
Neither setting helped with this problem.

It is specific to the PCs and has not gotten picked up in roaming
profiles yet so I am thinking it is something in the registry as well.
Thank you for the input,

Gary

Rocky,

Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately that wasn't it. I had
already tried settings users to power users and even local
administrators. Neither setting helped.

I think it is a registry problem as well. It hasn't been picked up in
roaming profiles and it is specific to the problematic PCs.
Thanks again for your suggestion, I do appreciate the response.
