problems opening vista windows mail

I keep getting this message when I try to open my email: An unknown error has
occurred. Account: 'mail.scottsboro.org', Server: 'mail.scottsboro.org',
Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x80004005. I can
check my email through my internet provider website, but not in windows mail
and also my husband can open his mail under his screen name with windows
mail. Any help would be great seeing that I am not a computer whiz.
 
In your browser go to the webmail website and log in.
Then clean out all the folders in your webmail. If you want to save
any messages, create a new folder and move those messages to the
new folder. Empty the spam and thrash folders also. Close webmail,
then try Windows Mail again.

If no improvement, which antivirus are you running?
 
I deleted all the messages at my webmail website and that hasn't worked.
There are still messages in my windows mail inbox that I cant get to, so I
can't delete those. Im using AVG, thanks so much.
 
Chances are, you installed AVG antivirus using its default install option.
If so, uninstall it, then reinstall, but select 'custom' install, which then
allows you to unselect installing its troublesome email scanning module.

While AVG is uninstalled, try Windows Mail again, just to verify that
the culprit has been found.

If no improvement, I suggest you upgrade to Windows Live Mail:

AVG must not be the problem, so Im installing windows live, do I need to
delete windows mail???
 
ok, I have installed windows live and now Im getting this message "unable to
import information from windows mail
 
IT'S WORKING!!!! Thanks So Much, do I need to do this on the other email
accounts that are working.
 
What is working, Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail?
I'm not sure what the "do I need to do this" refers to.
 
Could I get some help with this also?

Of course. Just describe your issue in detail, and include a copy
of the error message, if any.
