Hi Jimmy,
One of these methods might help:
Right-click is slow or weird behavior caused by context menu handlers:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/slowrightclick.htm
Right-click is extremely slow only when Network is enabled:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/rcdelay.htm

Windows® XP Troubleshooting http://www.winhelponline.com
Im using windows xp and NAV 8.1 updated, winxp firewall, and defender
but lately opening a single txt file takes at least 2 or 3 minutes the first
time, and after a short time it happens again.
in the desktop a right click on a shortcut is quick, but a right click on a
txt or a data file takes 3 minutes to respond.
could be a virus type problem?
I've cleaned temps, defragmented, chkdsk in exclusive mode etc. but haven't
helped
any help accepted
