problems opening files in xp

when I open a file instead of it opening i get the search
window popup, the only way i can do open some files is
right clicking and selecting open...... how do I change
it so it will open straight away

Search normally isn't an option on files. If you mean folders then type in Start Run
regsvr32 /i shell32
