Problems opening database

I have an old database written with Access 2000, when I try to open it with
Office 2003, I allways get an error message tellling me I dont have the
authorization to open the file and that I should talk to the system
adminstrator or to the person who created the file. I created the file myself
?

In that case, talk to the system administrator. Assuming that the file
is out on a network drive, it could be a simple permissions problem.

when I´m logged in as admistrator I am unablew to open the file?

Has it been protected by security? Is there a LDB file in that
directory with the same name as the MDB file? Can you save a new (non
Access) file to the same directory where the access file is located, open it
and make changes, save the changes and then delete that file?

I don´t have an ldb file in the directory as because Access opens but the
programme doesn´t start so it doesn´t write an ldb file. Other files in the
directory all work normally, including other access databases?

Sorry, I am out of ideas. Maybe you could try copying the database to
another computer with Access and see if it will open there. It might be
interesting if the other machine has Access 2002 to see if that helps.

I seem to recall some sort of known problem along these lines, but since
I never experienced it myself I did not pay much attention and I am not sure
about it. Maybe someone else will remember it if I am right.
