Problems networking two W2k PCs

I have two W2k PCs connected via a hub. I am able to ping both directions. I
have folders shared on both machines. I have a workgroup named "Workgroup". I
have sharing enabled on both machines, TCP/IP and Netbui also. One machine
only sees itself in "computers near me" the other sees both. depending on how
I try to gain access to files on the opposite machine I get these different
responses:
1)
Enter Network Password
Incorrect Password or Unknown Username for \\machine name here
Connect As
Password
2)
Windows Explorer
\\machine name here is not accessible
The network name cannot be found
3)
Microsoft Windows Network
Workgroup is not accessible
The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available

Is there anything out there that gives all the info necessary to set this
simple network up or can anyone give me some help? This should be pretty
easy, at least thatis what I thought.

Try:

1. On each machine create a user account with the same user name and
password used to log onto the other machine.

2. Uninstall netbeui.
