In the Open field, type sfc /scannow (Note: There is a space between sfc
and /scannow)
Select the OK button.
Follow the prompts throughout the System File Checker process.
Reboot the computer when System File Checker completes.

What's wrong with using Netscape or another browser?

Some sites, esp.Microsoft, will not repond to anything but Internet
Explorer. You need it along with any other browser you use.

Not exactly true. The only thing you really need it for is to access
the windows upate site directly. But you can bypass that by downloading
the updates from the knowledge base and download center from any
browser, so no you don't absolutely have to have IE.

True. Some people never test their pages on anything but IE.
