Problems installing software on WinXP SP2

Hi,
I am not sure if anyone else has seen this problem before, but when I
try to install certain application software (motoroal phone tools
recently for example) and click on the setup file, the wizard shows up
for a brief instant and then disappears completely. I cannot find it in
windows task manager. If I click on the setup file again, a similar
thing happens.

Any ideas, why am I experiencing this?

Hi Rich,
Thanks fot this info, but I checked the registry and did not find this
problem. I am thinking maybe I should re-install the OS on top of my
current OS?
