Hi to the group,
My son is having difficulty installing games on XP Home. An error message
saying "access denied invalid access code" comes up and does not allow the
installation wizard to run.

TIA,
for any help.

It is probably a protection issue - assuming he is a limited
user (which he should be), many of the games are noted
for not playing "nice" in the XP world -- typically they
will try and store bits of information (scores etc) in a folder
under the main folder in Program Files where it is installed
which the normal user can't write to --- it *should* be
saving that information etc in the users "My Documents"
folder for each user. See if you can install it as an
administrator -- if that works fine, then it is the protection
issue. There are some utilities (sysinternals has one) that
allow you to see all attempted file writes and you can use
that with a bit of work to figure out where it is failing and
change the protections on that file or whatever. Yeah,
it is a pain.
