problems initializing xpe after logon

Once my embedded image is finalized, I have a problem everytime I boot. I
autologin to xpe. After the icons appear on the screen and the video driver
icon appears in the system tray, the cpu usage is very high. thus when I
move the mouse to the start button it takes a long time for the start menu to
appear if it appears at all. Some 45 seconds later the network icon appears
in the system tray and the cpu usage is down to zero and the computer is in a
very stable state and works fine.

Has any one else had this problem?
Why do you think it takes 45 seconds for the computer to finish initializing
after logon?

eric,

A few things for you to check:
- make sure you've got right Processor component in your image configuration
- either switch to static IP on the target (at least for debugging purposes) or make sure DHCP server is responsive enough
- make sure you've got the right video driver installed properly
- do not use domain logon

And a few more things to check:
- FBALog.txt - any errors there?
- Device Manager and setupAPi.log - any errors?
- try to use MS BootVis tool to analyze the boot process on your image.

botvis way cool!

I found that the boot finished in 30 seconds, then these windows services
were hogging the cpu usage.

Do I need any of the following?

msdtc.exe
inetinfor.exe
scardsvr.exe
snmp.exe
mqsvc.exe
fxssvc.exe
mqtgsvc.exe

eric,

you just listed a bunch of system services like MSDTC, SNMP and etc.
I don't know anything about your system and therefore I cannot tell you whether you need those services or not.

You can search XPe database for those services (use TD Filter by file name) and you will know more about what you have included in
your image configuration.
