problems extracting codecs to install

when I attempted to run codecs for Windows Media
Player...got error message saying extraction failed
probably due to corrupted cabinet file...I would
appreciate any advice on how I could be successful at
viewing this movie Passion of the Christ I've downloaded
from Kazaa Lite

If this movie file has an avi extension, the official Microsoft codecs
will not help you anyway. You'll need the ffdshow codec:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow/ Install that codec and WMP will
find it automatically when you try to play the movie.

I assume you've already dealt with the moral conflict of watching a
pirated version of a movie about Jesus.
