Problems converting PC .wmv files to TV/DVD video

I have never done this before so I don't know what I am doing

I have some videos in avi and windows media format that I would rathe
watch on the tv than on the pc. Last night I used "Nerovisio
Express 2" to burn one of these DVDs'. I really liked how man
options the program had for making your own menues & stuff.

Anyway,I was converting .wmv files to a dvd that will play right o
the tv in a regular DVD player. It did work ok, but I had som
problems that I would like some help with. If I can get this to wor
the way I want, I may do this with some .avi files too

First of all is there a way to fit more on
DVD? I was only able to fit 24 files (I think) ont
the dvd. The files took up 123 megs on a cd rom, thats only abou
half of the files I wanted to put on the DVD. It totaled almost th
full 4 gigs after conversion, so it's all I could fit. Is there a
easy way to compress the files beforehand or something so I can fi
them all onto a DVD? If a full 2 hour movie can fit onto a DVD I se
no reason why more of these files should'nt be able to

[u:a1174d1550]Another problem[/u:a1174d1550] I discovered - I can onl
access the first page of the menue. Ther
is a little arrow at the bottom of the page but it looks like an arro
with a verticle line just before it, which seems to mean it is alread
at the end of the menue or something, but it's only the first page.
am not able to select the arrow or go to any other page in the menue
I can see all the videos if I keep hitting the "next video
button, just can't select anything but the first 6 videos in th
menue

It also took about 2 1/2 hours for the computer to make this DVD.
assume this is pretty normal? My computer is not slow either

Eventually I should probably just turn my old computer into a tivo an
watch this stuff on the tv via the tv card, but thats anothe
project
Thank

You would need to adjust the compression - this may reduce picture quality.
Also, 2 hour movies tend to come on Dual Layer DVDs (DVD9) which are capable
of holding 9GB of data.

No idea on this, you'll have to dig through the Nero documentation to work
out what's wrong.

Most of that time will be converting the wmv to mpeg2, which is the format
required on a DVD.

Click on the more button at the bottom of Nero and you can change the
compression settings. You can fit up to about 6 hours on a DVD but the
quality won't be as good at this setting.

When creating the menus there are options for displaying titles only, Titles
and chapters or no menu. Try different settings of these. You can test the
menus before burning to see how they work.

This is about normal for converting files that are not in the correct MPEG2
format already. I don't know of any way of changing this unfortunately.
