problems burning dvds

Hello everyone! I have problems trying to burn a blank brand new dvd on my
computer, i'm using vista, once the burning session starts, after a moment it
stops, eject the cd and a message in a window says the cd might be not
compatible with the device or the speed is not correct, i got my pc recently
and i'm not very skilled in computer, could anyone help me please? Thank you
all.

Could you give us some particulars on the DVD/CD burner as well the the type
of media you are using.......eg DVD+r/-r..rw ????
