problems after upgrading

I upgraded from windows 98 to windows 2000..now I have no
sound...it says the multimedia controllers, pci input
devices are not installed and can not be reinstalled.. any
suggestions..i also tried to use the recovery disk for 98
but it tells me it was "aborted" everytime...

You need win2k drivers for yr hardware, ie sound card, graphics card etc.
If the pc is a Laptop then go to manu.web site, if desktop, for mobo
intergrated drivers the mobo site, for cards the card manu.site.
Do NOT use winupdate for drivers, use only manu.web site drivers.
Whether a recovery disk functions depends as to how it has been set up by
supplier of the sys, now that you've changed the o/s
