Problems after reinstall of XP Home

After a successful reinstall of XP home and SP2 I now get the following error
message on the welcome screen during startup:

"Windows cannot load the user's profile but has logged you on with the
default profile for the system.

DETAIL - The system has attempted to load or restore a file into the
registry, but the specified file is not in a registry file format."

It then prompts me to click "ok" and resumes a "normal" startup.

There appear to be no other problems.

Any ideas on correcting the nuisance?

Hi there,

Do you have ZoneAlarm firewall installed? For some reason the firewall
insists on holding on to certain files within the default user profile..
Uninstalling ZA will fix the problem...To get back on your acount delete
ntuser.dat in your profile (you will need to use another profile to logon
and delete the corrupted file). Reboot and windows recreate a new ntuser.dat
not corrupt.

Best regards,

If you don't care about resetting up your account ... go ahead and delete
you ntuser.dat file.
The next time you log in, Windows XP will create a new ntuser.dat ... with
no settings. You will have to reset everything up .... personnal
applications, network, desktop, explorer (windows and internet), .....

I think it would be easier to download the UPHCLEAN (User Profile Hive
Clean) tool from Microsoft and install it. Do so as the admin user.
