I'll have to do some testing.

I wonder how this might relate to the question of using RDP within a VPN.

RDP and VPN use the same encryption routines--presumably twice as much
effort is involved in running RDP within the VPN...... Should do some
tests.

Actually, it depends on what type of VPN you do... IPSEC VPN's
require much more horsepower (but offer a lot more security) than
PPTP... However, an IPSEC VPN is more "responsive" in networking
(actually, I would say "optimized").
