problem with xp n ot detecting my fire wire camcorder

i recentley had a problem with my computer causing me to
completely install xp, as a result my dv cam is no longer
detected when connected via fire wire. i have looked at
various forums and i don't understand a lot of the
jargon, can anyone help, anyone know of a hot fix or
anything? thanks...rick

What was the original problem..?
Did you format and reinstall, or just over the top of the old.

yeah, all thats honky dory, think it mebbe cable thats gone though now.any way of teting emthat anyone knows?
