How to detect a Sharp mini-DV camcorder in Win-XP?

As many people here reported camcorder detection problems, I have the same
camcorder detection problem through a firewire port in my labtop. Any idea?

OS: Win-XP Home
Labtop: Firewire port available
(IEEE 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller Vendor is seen
in my system)
This is my 1st time to use this firewire port.
Camcorder: Sharp Viewcam VL-Z3U
As posted so often here, I connected to AC power and set
in Video play mode.

What software are you using and what are the error messages if any?

I have Windows Movie Maker in my labtop. I don't see any error message.
Just no detection and nothing happens.

I happend to update Win-XP today. Then the camcorder is detected and with
Windows Movie Maker I could do everything, remote-controlling the camcorder
from PC, viewing, and recording. For those who have camcorder detection
problem, please try to update your Windows. Also I noticed that someone
recommended to update Windows while the camcorder is connected to PC so that
the latest driver could be downloaded.
