Ok here is the issue, I have windows XP, and WMP version 9 with all the
recent updates. When i click on a mpeg it should stream automatiucally. I
went to the network settings and its all good. But what I dont undertsnad
is if i click the mpeg on my friends comp with the same OS, it streams. How
come mine doesnt? Even if I click the open dialog, it opena and it says
something is wrong with the file. If I save it, its fine when I open it.

Hi Jai,

Some things to check...

Launch WMP9
1) Go to Tools, then Options and click the Network tab
2) Confirm that Multicast, UDP, TCP, and HTTP are enabled to allow streaming
media
3) In the Streaming proxy settings, make sure that HTTP is set to 'Browser'
under the Proxy heading (you can set it to that by clicking Configure, then
choosing that option)

If that doesn't solve it, you could try disabling (unchecking) the UDP
setting, and this would force streaming to use either TCP, or HTTP,
instead... which should also work fine.

Your firewall (or perhaps a router) could be causing this situation... by
not forwarding the UDP packet info... if that is the case, the Disabling
UDP method should work.
