Problem with VSS on W2K3_R2_x64_SP2

Running W2K3_R2_x64_SP2 as virtual machine (VmWare).
When I perform "vssadmin list writers" I receive empty list.
Also, as result of above command, three similar events appear in
"application" event viewer, telling "Volume Shadow Copy Service error:
An internal inconsistency was detected in trying to contact shadow
copy service writers.".

As advised in multiple places over the internet, I performed following
commands:
cd to windows\system32
net stop vss
net stop swprv
regsvr32 ole32.dll
regsvr32 vss_ps.dll
vssvc /register
regsvr32 /i swprv.dll
regsvr32 /i eventcls.dll
regsvr32 es.dll
regsvr32 stdprov.dll
regsvr32 vssui.dll
regsvr32 msxml.dll
regsvr32 msxml3.dll
regsvr32 msxml4.dll
reboot
It did not help (by the way I do not have msxml.dll and msxml4.dll).
Also I have checked HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ContentIndex
\Catalogs, there is nothing suspicious there..

What else I can do ?

I have exactly the same problem as you have, also running w2k3_r2_x64 as
virtual machine. Tried the same things to solve it, but it doesn't work. I'm
going crazy over this.

Did you happen to solve it yet?
