Problem with startup

I just had a problem with my other computer, it is a vaio labtop about 2
years old now and this morning i turned it on normally, i reach the point
where the bios tells me there is a C://windows/system32/....... a file being
corupted. i tried to use to recovery CD prodivded by vaio to reinstall the
whole system. but inserting the cd won't run at all. actually just before
reaching the windwos xp pro screen, i had a friend set up a password at the
bios now i can't get to the bios to run safe mode, last known good service,
etc.

Anyone know how to fix this problem, sony customer support just tell me to
use the recovery CD and everything is fixed, they just won't accept that it
won't run
