Same problem, new twist...

Hi,

I am having the same problem as others in the group; when I start up the
computer, error msg. reads: \windows\system32\config\system file is missing
or corupt. Now, when I change my bios to boot from the CD-ROM drive, insert
the WinXP CD, restart the computer and letting it boot from the CD, I get
back to the same error message "\windows\system32\config\system file is
missing or corupt". I have no other options at all. Any ideas.

Thanks

Oh, I have no floppy drives on any of my computers.

A friend of mine had the same problem. I did a quick google search an
it directed me to a Microsoft solution page. It basically said th
registry file was screwed and the solution involved.

Boot to CD, go to recovery, copy registry off CD onto syste
(overwriting current)
Boot in safe mode and get your hands on a back up of the syste
registry windows makes.
Go back into CD and overwrite the registry with back up.

Unfortunately the system buggered up with the exact same problem a wee
later and I found a format seemed to solve it ... but here's the articl
I read that fixed it for a week anyway :).
