problem with software distribution service 3.0

My computer will not connet to the internet when the computer finish updating
the "software ditribution service 3.0". I have tried using system restore to
return back to original setting and the internet connection is working fine
in the original setting. However, the computer seems to automatically update
without my consent and promts me to restart the computer to install the
updates, presuambly the "software ditribution service 3.0". Once the
computer restarts again, the internet connection is lost. I have tried
shutting down the firewall after the update but there is still no internet
connection. Is there something wrong with software ditribution service 3.0?
and do I have the option to not update the computer?

Thanks ,

Alan

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed? What
anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall
(e.g., ZoneAlarm)?

I have updated ZoneAlarm before the installation of software distribution
service 3.0 and when I restart, ZoneAlarm said something about allowing DNS
and internet is back up again, so its probably the firewall giving me
problems.

Thanks for the help PA Bear,

Alan
