Problem with SBS 2000 and Windows XP Pro and Office 2003 Pro

We have a problem with a customer who is running as above on a brand new SBS
2000 server.

It seems to be slow when Opening and saving Excel documents and some other
CAD types.

Environment: SBS 2000 and XP Pro clients with Office 2003 Pro

Not really enough info to take a guess.
Using a switch or a hub?
Do you have file-level antivirus on the server, and is realtime scanning set
to inbound/outbound?
Hardware specs on server?
Etc.
