Hello,

I noticed that client with windows 98 and mapped network drive from
Windows 2003 SBS have delay to access they files on those drives.
Example:
-windows 98 map network drive using logon script from Windows 2003 SBS
Server
-create file like *.doc
-right button on those file and delete (this step take very long time ~1
sec)

It's not so bad, but there is problem with opening and closing some
documents using WORD(probably beacuse he creating temproarly backup of
oppening file)

On windows XP it's OK.

Anyone know why it colud be happen?
Thanks

What happens if you open a Word document from this drive using Windows
Explorer, and open/save/etc? Is this happening to other users? Have you
checked your network settings (DNS server is only the SBS box, etc), tried a
different Ethernet cable, different NIC?

Note: you really really need to get Win9x computers off your network. 98 is
no longer supported, but beyond that, it is a home OS and has no security,
cannot join a domain, cannot participate in your group policy, etc - it is a
bad thing.

I will check it tomorrow.

Yes this happen to all users using windows 98 or me. I think it's not
physically connection broken, but something with upper netowrk layer. Now
I'm trying this:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=321098.

Between Windows 98 with mapped disk from Windows XP there's no problem.

Yes i know, bet there still some 98 which I can yet change:(

One other thing to check - is Fastfind running on the Windows 98 PCs? Check
the startup group...and msconfig.
