Problem with re-installing Windows

H

Harry

Hi every body,
I tried to help a friend re-installing an English version of Windows XP
Professional on her computer.
Her computer has two hard disk drives: C:\ and F:\
C:\ =30 GB F:\=12 GB. I formated both the drives and made a partition in
Drive C:\ into C:\ & D:\ and left F:\ as it was (no partition)
I installed the OS on C:\ ,after rebooting, every thing worked fine EXCEPT
for the system had no sound, and could not detec the device MODEM.
I checked the device manager and tried to relocate both the sound and modem
drivers,
and this is what I get: In the device manager IN YELLOW (not available):
1.Ethernet Controller
2.Universal Seriel Bus (USB) Controller
3.Multimedia Audio Controller
4.Video Control (VGA)
5.Network Controller
I got shocked and did not know what had happened because before I
re-installed the OS,
the pc was working perfectly under Windows XP Prof. Dutch Version.
Please, please help, what did I do wrong??
Thanks

All of the devices listed are integrated into the motherboard, I would
think.. go to the motherboard manufacturer website and download the
drivers.. with luck, you will be able to save as a file which can then be
run on the problem machine..

Did you physically disconect the other hd during the xp installation, only
the hd that C:/xp will be on should be connected. Also, the ethernet will need
drivers from the mfg, usb, install the chipset drivers for the board, usually
a cd is/was included that has software/drivers.You havent done anything
wrong, you just need to install software.
