problem with RAM upgrade

I recently tried to upgrade my RAM. Config: CT-7AJA2 mobo, VIA 8363 Chipset, 128Mb RAM, Win XP Home, 30G & 20G HD, DVD & Yamaha CD Burner. When I put in the 512 Mb module, system would not boot. Boots fine on 128Mb. My mobo should carry a total of 1.5G. Mobo has a jumper to set it from 100 Mghz to 133. It is set for 133 eventhough the current 128 is only a 100 module. It's a PC 100 128. I ordered a PC 133 512 168 pin SDRam so they said it was comatible. Crucial's "experts can't tell me why it won't work. They already replaced it once and now I am going for the refund. I still don't know what the problem was with it or what to buy that would work with my machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated..

the only thing I can think of is that it is the wrong kind of ram, but
crucial is pretty good at getting it right.

Some mobo require the largest RAM module to be in the lowest
numbered (1st) slot. Some BIOS settings may limit maximum
RAM size. I have not looked up your mobo, but you should
and get the mobo manual.

Also, your PC100 module may interfere with the PC133.

Have you tried only the 512 alone?
